New Acland Coal Pty Ltd lodged an amendment application with the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning on 25 July 2023, to align the approved disturbance area of its Regional Interest Development Approval RPI19/009 with the approved disturbance area of its Environmental Authority EPML00335713, for the first five years of mining within Mining Lease 50232 at New Acland Coal Mine. The amendment is being sought to ensure consistency between the New Acland Coal Mine Stage 3 Project’s primary approvals granted under the State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971, Environmental Protection Act 1994, and Regional Planning Interests Act 2014.
As a component of the assessment process under the Regional Planning Interests Act 2014, the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning issued a Requirement Notice to New Acland Coal Pty Ltd on 30 August 2023 requesting that the amendment application for Regional Interest Development Approval RPI19/009 be publicly notified for a period of 15 business days. On 13 September 2023, New Acland Coal Pty Ltd placed public notices in The Toowoomba Chronicle and Oakey Champion for its proposed amendment of Regional Interest Development Approval RPI19/009. The 15 business day public notification period is from 13 September 2023 to 4 October 2023, inclusive.
Consequently, you may make a submission in relation to New Acland Coal Pty Ltd’s proposed amendment application for Regional Interest Development Approval RPI19/009 to the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning. Your properly made submissions must be made in writing; state the name of each person who made the submission; and state an address for service for at least one of the persons who made the submission.
Your submissions may be sent to Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning by either of the following methods.

The closing date for submissions is 4 October 2023. Properly made submissions will be published on the Regional Planning Interests Act 2014 website https://planning.statedevelopment.qld.gov.au/planning-issues-and-interests/areas-of-regional-interest/regional-planning-interests-applications or will be available for public inspection at the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning office at Level 13, 1 William St, Brisbane.
