New Acland Coal has a long and proud history of supporting the local community and recently gifted $10,000 to Pittsworth District Alliance and The Hub in Pittsworth $10,000.

The NAC Community Development Program donation will help Manager, Allison Potter, and her team provide meaningful daily activities for people living with a disability.

The Hub in Pittsworth is a fit-for-purpose space dedicated to building and enhancing the capacity of participants from Pittsworth and Millmerran through a range of programs and activities.

The organisation’s new venture, Sondrio on 67, will help people living with a disability to gain support, training, confidence, and pathways to employment.

Sondrio on 67 will feature second-hand goods and handcrafted items by local artisans, including artworks, jewellery, crafts, and other pieces made by participants from The Hub. All funds raised will be reinvested into programs and training to support participant growth and development.

The Hub in Pittsworth’s Allison Potter said New Acland Coal’s support directly benefits local people living with a disability.

“Without community support, The Hub in Pittsworth and Sondrio on 67 couldn’t operate,” Ms Potter said.

“Our programs, and activities are funded by local businesses, including New Acland Coal.

“This community support allows us to deliver a variety of brilliant programs for people living with a disability, including cooking classes, farm programs, and music workshops.”

New Acland Coal General Manager, Dave O’Dwyer said the operation has a long and proud history of supporting and financially backing the local community via project procurement and hyper local investment.

“As a responsible operator, we support and promote broad economic and social benefits for the towns and regions surrounding New Acland Mine including Oakey, Toowoomba, Pittsworth, Goombungee, Jondaryan, Biddeston, Quinalow, and Kulpi,” Mr O’Dwyer said.

“We’re committed to creating a positive social impact based on long-term, meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships.

“More than 90 per cent of the current workforce live within 50 kilometres of New Acland Mine. It’s an honour to support so many local businesses, sporting teams and schools within the district, including Pittsworth District Alliance, and The Hub in Pittsworth.”
