New Acland Coal Pty Ltd has lodged a new application for a regional interests development approval (RIDA) with the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning. This RIDA application RPI24/034 is required to facilitate the continuation of mining within the approved disturbance area of New Acland Coal Pty Ltd’s Environmental Authority EPML00335713 from year 6 of mining until mine closure within Mining Lease 50232 at New Acland Coal Mine (including infrastructure areas).
As a component of the assessment process under the Regional Planning Interests Act 2014, the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning issued a Requirement Notice to New Acland Coal Pty Ltd on 29 October 2024 requesting that RIDA application RPI24/034 be publicly notified for a period of 15 business days (i.e. within 10 business days of providing a response to the Requirement Notice). On 2 December 2024, New Acland Coal Pty Ltd provided a response to the Requirement Notice to the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning triggering the requirement to publicly notify within 10 business days.
On 6 December 2024, New Acland Coal Pty Ltd placed a Public Notice in The Toowoomba Chronicle for its RIDA application RPI24/034. The 15 business day public notification period is from 9 December 2024 to 6 January 2025, inclusive.
Consequently, you may make a submission in relation to New Acland Coal Pty Ltd’s RIDA application RPI24/034 to the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning. Your properly made submissions must be made in writing; state the name of each person who made the submission; and state an address for service for at least one of the persons who made the submission.

The closing date for submissions is 6 January 2025. Properly made submissions will be published on the Regional Planning Interests Act 2014 website https://www.planning.qld.gov.au/planning-issues-and-interests/areas-of-regional-interest/regional-planning-interests-applications or will be available for public inspection at the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning office at Level 13, 1 William St, Brisbane.
