Chris has more than 40 years’ experience in worldwide oil and gas upstream operations, production and drilling, marine and land and is a founding shareholder and Director of Bridgeport Energy subsidiaries.
Key achievements include leading technical and operations teams at various phases from exploration to development, including setup of producing operations, on significant upstream oil and gas projects throughout the world. Development projects include offshore North Ben Nevis, Chebucto, Kupe South, Esso Bass Strait, Patricia Baleen, Maari, Cliff Head, onshore Otway Basin, Cooper Basin, Surat Basin and the Saltfleetby gas field (UK). Operating areas of expertise include Australia, New Zealand, West Africa, onshore UK, Canada, China, India and Asia.
Formerly General Manager Operations with Roc Oil Company and prior to that, Offshore Operations Manager with Cultus Petroleum, Chris has held senior positions with Oil Search, Ampolex, Esso, Trans Canada Pipeline and Husky Oil. Chris is a 38-year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, a member of the Institute of Engineers Australia CPEng and RPEQ. He holds degrees in Geology (Acadia University) and Mechanical Engineering (Dalhousie University).
Barry Smith has worked as a geophysicist, asset/new venture manager, managing director and non-executive director for more than 40 years in the petroleum industry. His career has involved the successful execution of petroleum projects in Australia and overseas, including the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East and North Africa.
He has been actively involved in the conduct of exploration, appraisal and development programs and the assessment of acreage and corporate new business opportunities with active operating companies. While having worked in Australia for most of his professional career, he was also based in Edinburgh, UK for several years, managing petroleum projects in South Asia for Cairn Energy. He was also the technical services manager for that company.
Barry was Orion Petroleum’s founding Managing Director and CEO, where he managed the company’s conventional petroleum and coal seam gas assets. He is currently employed as Bridgeport Energy’s Chief Technical Officer and is an active member of SEG, AAPG, ASEG and PESA.
Cameron has more than 25 years of petroleum exploration and development experience and has worked in the onshore Cooper-Eromanga, Adavale, and Bowen-Surat Basins in Australia as well as the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and the Gulf of Mexico. Cameron began his career with Amoco in the mid-nineties and has progressively moved to more senior roles within a number of small and medium sized companies including; Dominion Exploration, Samson Canada, and Athabasca Oil Corporation. Cameron has a strong record of drilling success working on exploration and development activities in a variety of geologic settings from frontier Devonian thrust belts to Cretaceous foreland basins, to Pliocene deltaic deposits offshore Gulf of Mexico. Over the years Cameron has gained varied experience from the design and acquisition of seismic surveys, to detailed interpretation and geological modelling.
Cameron received a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Alberta in 1993 and a M.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Victoria in 1995. Cameron has professional affiliations with ASEG, PESA, CSEG (Canada), and the SEG (US). In addition to his role as Exploration Manager, Cameron also manages a number of the Company’s operated assets. He has been instrumental in the development and execution of the overall corporate exploration program and he participates in the assessment and technical recommendations relating to new and existing business opportunities.
