Bengalla Agricultural Company - trail brazer

Bengalla Agricultural Company Station Hand, Marley Stainton-Murphy is blazing a trial in the male dominated agricultural sector.

“There are so many career paths and opportunities for women in this industry, and here at Bengalla Agricultural Company,” Marley said.

“Don’t let anything stop you. Everyone here at Bengalla wants to see you succeed.

“The culture is brilliant, and you are given a lot of opportunities to expand your knowledge and education in the agriculture industry.

“I want to see more women in the industry, because we can do absolutely everything that men can do.”

Marley believes Bengalla Agricultural Company is proof mining and farming can co-exist and thrive, with some of the world’s best beef and coal located within metres of each other at Bengalla.

“I think everyone can agree that agriculture and mining make the world turn. It is important people see and understand that they can co-exist happy together,” Marley said.

“No two days are ever the same at Bengalla Agricultural Company, but a typical day involves driving the tractor, making hay, moving cattle, getting cattle ready for sale, essentially running a farm.

“You can go from irrigation in the morning to drafting and weaning cattle in the afternoon, which is actually my favourite part of the job. I love watching the calves grow up.”
